I used to be a regular contributor to this site as well and Tim's name rang a bell. Since my Savage purchase 2 years ago, I've added an '87 Honda rebel 450 and a 1975 Honda CB400f. After clocking over 3,000 miles the first year, the Savage only got 1,000 last year. But I just got her ready and went for a nice ride today. There's nothing like the rythmic thump, thump, thump of that big single. Anyway, I changed my fork oil last year as well (actually my mechanic did), but he recommended going in the other direction. He said that #15 weight made for too mushy of a ride, so he put #30 in. The difference was amazing....for my riding style it firmed everything up. No more bottoming out on bumps. The bike seems more stable now. As they say, "Different strokes for different folks."
Ride safe,
Bob A.
